Hoop It Up
Before cabin-fever sets in – or to shake it off – get the family off the couch and into the fresh air with this fun, heart-pounding race that requires agility and speed.
Gather: • 10 hula-hoops, inner tubes, tires, or circles of some sort of about 2½ - 3 feet in diameter. You can also draw chalk circles if that’s easier.
Arrange: • Place the hoops flat on the ground in two parallel lines. Play: • Time each person as they run up one row of circles and down the other. They must land both feet in each circle before moving on. • Take three turns per player. • The fastest time wins. • Give smaller kids a lead-time so they don’t feel defeated • Want to make it harder? Try these variations: • Each player must get through the maze using two-footed jumps • Players must hop on one leg into each circle (or may alternate legs as they progress through the maze)
