Two Two-wheeled Ideas As the weather chills, bicycles beckon. Get outside with the family and do more than just go from here to there on your two-wheeled steeds.
1. GO S-L-O-W-L-Y
Create a course using chalk to draw a wide line on a driveway, sidewalk or quiet street. The course should have curvy areas (even wide circles) and straight lines. Now challenge riders to follow the line, going as slowly as they can without putting their foot down. If they put their foot down, they must start over. Use a stopwatch to time each rider. The slowpoke wins!
2. Can-Can Challenge
Teens, here’s your chance to get imaginative! Create a bike-riding obstacle course around trees, between cones or chairs and through other tough passages. Place empty (clean, of course) soup cans randomly around the course. Give each rider a penny for each can and set them off onto the course with the goal of dropping a penny in each can and finishing the fastest.
