Air Force Youth Programs Celebrates Youths of the Year
Air Force Youth Programs recognized sixty-six special teens representing the thousands of military dependents whose mothers' and fathers' honorably serve our nation. These teens distinguished themselves from their peers by being selected as the Air Force Youth Programs Youth of the Year at their respective installation and Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve components. The Air Force Youth of the Year Program is designed to recognize young people for contributions to their families, Youth Programs, schools, and communities and enables youth to become positive, contributing leaders within their community. It is held in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year Program, which allows military youth to compete for additional scholarship awards and the title of Military Youth of the Year. Twenty-five Air Force youth won their State Military Youth of the Year contest and will move on to compete in their respective regional completion. This year the six regional Military Youth of the Year representatives will be honored in a ceremony in Washington DC on 12 Sept where one youth will be named the 2014 Military Youth of the Year.
