Air Force Teen Wins Military Youth of the Year
2016 Military Youth of the Year recipient, RianSimone Harris from Ramstein-Vogelweh AB Youth Programs meets with Brigadier General Lenny Richoux, Director of Air Force Services, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. after the ceremony.RianSimone Harris from Ramstein-Vogelweh AB Youth Programs was named the 2015 Military Youth of the Year at a ceremony at the U.S. Naval Heritage Center, Washington, DC. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), the military services participate in the Military Youth of the Year competition, an annual event which starts at the installation level, advances to the state and six regional levels, and culminates in the recognition of one teen who serves as a representative for military teens across the globe. RianSimone was an active member and role model to many teens at the Vogelweh Youth Center, participating in leadership and service activities and volunteering over 450 hours of her time to support the community. Throughout the advancing levels of competition, RianSimone garnered over $65K in scholarships and now moves on to compete for the National Youth of the Year title against the five traditional BGCA regional winners on 29 Sept in Washington, DC.
