FitFamily continues to work towards fitness goals
The USAF FitFamily program, offering guidance to establishing healthier lifestyle choices for families of USAF military and DoD civilian personnel, continues to attract new users every day. Since the program launched on 30 Jan 10, FitFamily has registered more than 7,500 family members.
Mrs. Paula Roy, wife of CMSAF James Roy, serves as ambassador to programs supporting military spouses and families. The Roy family, USAF FitFamily spokesfamily, encourages use of the FitFamily plan that includes resources and information on proper nutrition, healthy recipes, sports and fitness, games, educational projects and a host of other tips and ideas to keep a family fit. The FitFamily website invites families to support each other by submitting healthy recipes, explaining how they’ve become a fit family through the Let’s Talk feature and submitting photos of their family being active. The FitFamily website is continuously updated with new information designed to help families.
“I am pleased to say that FitFamily has become an integral part of our everyday lives,”said Mrs Roy. “The biggest challenge for our family is logging the points at the end of each day. Although this is important, what is more important is that we are making healthy choices for a healthier lifestyle which will benefit us for the rest of our lives.”
Mrs Roy and all other families will be happy to know that the FitFamily scoring system has been changed to allow families to log points one time for the entire week (Mon-Sun). Families can be even more active together and enter their family activities for the week.
This is important as our nation looks closely at the Childhood Obesity issueand with First Lady Michelle Obama at helm, the White House is asking community leaders, teachers, doctors, nurses, moms and dads to join Mrs. Obama in tackling the challenge of childhood obesity through Let’s Move, a national campaign set to tackle the challenge of childhood obesity.
