Zumba Your Way to Fitness


Zumba at home with a DVD, in a class with a certified instructor, or with friends using a Wii. This new craze will have you smiling while you dance away the calories and improve your endurance.

Moving into the top 10 trends for fitness in 2012, Zumba is a dance-fitness program that uses Latin and international dance music to create a muscle toning, cardiovascular workout. It’s offered for people of all stages of fitness, and is a wonderful way for anyone to get up and get moving!

Regular Zumba (or Zumba Fitness)
Features high intensity cardiovascular workout that includes salsa, meringue, cumbia, cha-cha and samba dances
•  Follow the beat of the music without thinking too much about the steps
•  No partner or special skills needed
•  No routines to learn – join a class at any time
•  Usually 60 minutes with short warm-up and cool down

Zumba Gold
Designed for seniors, beginning exercisers and others who have physical limitations and need to work less intensely
•  Some moves are done at half-tempo
•  Can be done in chairs
•  Reduces stress on knees by limiting jumping and twisting
• Improves balance, flexibility, strength and the cardiovascular system starting
   at any level of fitness
•  Shorter workout than other Zumba classes
•  Approximately 30 to 45 minutes of cardio
•  Longer warm-up and cool-down

Zumba Toning
Uses lightweight maraca-like sticks to tone arms, abs, thighs and glutes
•  Helps burn additional calories and increase strength and endurance

Zumba in the Circuit
30-minutes of high intensity moves combined with strength training at timed intervals
•  Allows you to complete your workout in a short period of time

Aqua Zumba
A water workout that tones and conditions
•  Includes splashing, stretching and shouting
•  Best choice for those with bad knees or backs
•  Uses the water as resistance for maintaining balance and building strength

Zumbatonic
Designed specifically for kids ages 4 - 12
•  Features kid-friendly routines that increase focus and self-confidence

Some quick tips to Zumba with gusto
•  Wear athletic footwear with good arch, heel and ankle support
•  Look for smooth soles to allow your feet to slide
•  Wear the right clothes for free movement, ideally long shorts or capris, short
    sleeves or sleeveless shirts and support underwear
•  If you have sensitive ears, bring earplugs to muffle the music
•  Bring water and hydrate before, during and after your workout
