Thyme to Cut Calories, Not Taste


Use herbs – not gravy, sauces and salts – to bring out the natural flavors of everything you eat.  

A few herbs with vinegar or lemon juice go a long way to brighten up the same old meals. Not sure what to use? Here are a few guidelines to get you started on a fragrant garden path to healthier eating.  
•  Use only a little bit of an herb at first, then go bold when you find those you like
•  Use old salt shakers to make new spice shakers. Combine your favorite dried
   herbs and keep them on the table
•  Keep fresh herbs fresh in sealed glass jars, and use them within a week of purchase
•  For peak flavor, buy just small quantities of dried herbs and use them within 3 months,
   sealed in glass jars
•  Taste herbs at farmers markets and see which ones you and your family like
•  Change up your routine and try seasonal herbs and flowers
